The engraved images are created with the abandonware tree(d). A long forgotten, no longer supported tree creation software that is still floating around in the endlessness of the internet.
Abandonware refers to software that is no longer sold, maintained, or supported, yet still lingers under copyright. Unlike physical objects, which enter cycles of resale, donation, or disposal, digital artifacts often remain locked in a state of legal and functional limbo.
Both elements, digital and physical, carry a history of abandonment. The trees, once existing only as digital remains, are translated into physical form by engraving them onto obsolete glass roof tiles, picked up from a farm that gave them away. The glass tiles are old roof tiles, once used for shelter, now discarded and no longer produced. As building materials, they have lost their function and value.
